Question
So Facebook fans, and Blogger readers - I have a question:
What do you think of this:
I have been sent it twice. It is a card that is for sale in a local Portland store by a gal who draws photos of everything she buys.
When I first saw it I was flattered that someone had done that. When I showed it to a few other people the reaction was mixed. One suggested I send a cease and desist letter for using my logo (poorly) without permission. A few thought it was cool.
I'm kind of a mixed bag. If she were selling this at say Target, I'd probably say something. I mean I'd for sure get in trouble for putting a Coca-Cola logo on a shirt, or printing myself as Poodle Parade Barbie on tote bags.
What do you think?
Also, I do think it odd that the shirt is drawn not as it exists. The bottom band, and armholes are just hemmed, not finished with a rib. (sorry tech nerd coming out here).

So many fun things to do in April!
April is almost upon us!
The next 4 weeks seem jam packed with lots of fun things to do! So I'll list them out for you, and hope to see your faces at at least 1 of them.
Friday April 1st. (2 great things going on!)
Boutiques Unleashed Super fun event that I am so happy to be participating in this year! Not only do I have 3 human looks in the show, I have 3 canine looks as well!
If you aren't going to that, then get your butt over to the Union Rose Spring Cleaning Sale! So many rad local designers (the whole shop is locals only) will have insane sale items. My prices are so low that I am not even advertising what they are. One night only! End of season, and quite a few samples that are one of a kinds.
April 9th & 10th Pedal Nation Bicycle Show well the fashion portion that is. I'll have two bike-riding-friendly to show. Lots of fun!
Saturday April 16th Portland Sewing's 1 Year Anniversary Fashion Show - Garden Party Fashion Event. Not to be missed and tickets are going quick! (buy here now) I'm so proud to be showing with this group of designers. Catch a peak of all of our FA/WI '11 looks.

Spring/Summer 2011
For the photoshoot of this collection, I wanted to do something different. Over the years I have been involved in volunteering in several different capacities with local shelter organizations. My own pets are very near and dear to me, and they have all come from various rescue situations. I cannot imagine my daily life without them.
Volunteering with shelters can be a very eye opening experience. Had my beloved Pet Assisted Therapy cat Muku (now in kitty heaven) not escaped my house 10 years ago, I may never have had to check area shelters for him. For me personally it was extremely difficult to go in and see so many animals there. First I got upset, and then I got mad about it, and made the choice to help make a difference. One of my personal goals this year is to get more involved with a shelter. I have selected the small one in my hometown of Newberg, Oregon. It's nothing snazzy, and frankly they could use your help. They are currently working hard to find funding and raise enough money to build an adequate building for the needs of the city and the pets. 2011 - Do more good.
Happy New Year!

2010 was a great year for so many different reasons. It really got me thinking about life, and how many good things I have. From all the fun things I get to do every day, to all the wonderful people I have around me, and the rad city I live in - Portland. This has inspired me to spread the good, and do more good things for people around me.
This actually started in November around the holiday season. I did not get gifts for anyone. Instead I did good things on behalf of others.
Adopting foster 4 kids in need for the holidays, and having some friends adopt some as well.
Rounding up food and supplies for my hometown shelter - Newberg Animal Shelter. With the help of some good friends, I was able to collect over 200lbs of pet food and shelter supplies!
I am also doing some fund raising volunteer work here in 2011. They are currently trying to build a new shelter to accommodate the growing population of Newberg and Yamhill County. You can donate here - Newberg Animal Shelter Friends or at least be BFF's with them on Facebook to keep up on fun events. Maybe you can help too?
The latest thing was the Bra Drive. Melanie had the idea to gather the bras, and Union Rose hosted our collection bin. Again with the help of good friends, and some great customers, we were able to gather 194 bras! That's 37lbs of bra. Our goal was a 100, and we pretty much blew that out of the water.
So if you have helped with any of those things - THANK YOU. Even a single bra made a difference. The things weren't hard for me to do, just had or helped with an idea and spread the word. I feel extremely fortunate to know so many wonderful people and have a good network both socially and professionally. I think the best part was the mass amount of each made a huge difference to the recipients.
Next month I'm doing something that frankly scares the crap out of me. The Polar Plunge - a fundraiser for the Special Olympics. This is the 3rd year one of my oldest friends Jenny is plunging into the frigid Columbia in February, under the name Team Iceholes. The first year I cheered her on, the second year I pussed out, this year I am doing it. (though this maybe my 1st and last year getting in the water) Our team fund raising goal is $1000. We're almost halfway there.
All that being said, I encourage you to do something good this year. Help out with Meals on Wheels, take a bag of pet food to a animal shelter, grab an extra box of tampons at Costco for a homeless shelter , donate some of your time to work at a charity (I love helping out with the FCCO spay and neuter clinics). Even if it is as simple as cleaning your closet or pantry and taking excess to a charity that helps those in need - it helps. Happy New Year!

Bra Drive at Union Rose - can you help some women in Portland?
In Oregon, the Portland Rescue Mission serve an average of 1,200 homeless men and women each month, with women being the fastest growing segment. This year, they anticipate needing approximately 300 - 400 bras per month, in all sizes.
Bosom Buddies Bra Recycling is working together with the Portland Rescue Mission, gathering gently worn or new bras and new panties.
Clair Vintage Inspired and Union Rose invite you to participate in this drive.
Now through January 13th, Union Rose is a bra and panty drop-off. As extra incentive, when you donate you will receive 10% off a garment by Clair.
