This summer is going to be amazing!

I know it's not even June yet, but I'm so excited about all of the fun things that are going to be happening this summer!

Well first off I'm planning the "fashion" part of my photos with Sarah Giffrow my long time photographer. We are  bringing back the Portland Entrepreneuresses series, and working on scheduling everyone. Should be fun, but it does make for an extra long day of shooting and traveling. But I am very excited to feature some more rad lady small business owners.

MEMORIAL DAY!

Aside from fostering dogs with Hopes Haven, I also volunteer with Newberg Animal Shelter Friends helping with fundraising and social media. A friend and I have been working hard on a fundraiser - Pets Uncorked, where wineries area donating 10% of their tasting room fees over the Memorial Day weekend. So if you are out and about in wine country, please stop by both Duck Pond and Terra Vina (both locations). There are also a handful of wineries putting out donation boxes to help raise additional funds. Please follow construction progress on the shetler here:

JULY!

Tentative date of Friday 7/6 for the Clair Vintage Inspired  5 year anniversary party! So excited and I can hardly believe I've been doing the line for an entire 5 years. But then again I can't imagine not since I love it so much. The theme is "Pretty Dress Party", and there will be dancing. More details to come as I'm firming things up this week.

A very big 5th HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my #1 dress emporium Union Rose. This should also be a fantastic party, and I believe a little bird told me that things will be going on both 7/21 and 7/22. More details soon.

Alley 33 Fashion Show! I am so excited for this, and to see the work of so many other local Portland designers. The gals that put this on did an amazing job last year, that I was like dancing in my seat when I got an e-mail about it again this spring. Also, Elizabeth Mollo will be back stage, and I want to do any show she's working on.

AUGUST!

Pink Carpet Project a benefit for Planned Parenthood on 8/2. I'm pleased to be a part of this. As you may know breast cancer runs heavily in my family. It took my Grandmothers life when I was very young, and my Aunt is a strong 2x survivor. I was appalled when Komen pulled funding to Planned Parenthood. (I may or may not have written several nasty letters and helped bomb the Komen facebook page). This show will be a great way to raise some money for women in need. Needless to say to also see some other lovely designers.

Other than that there is one other plan.

SWIMMING. Which already happened on the one rare 90 degree day we had in May. It was freezing, so the water can't do anything but get warmer. Right? That's myself (left) and Rita of Hubris Apparel (right) BRRR!

Oh dear

It's almost May!

I'm the worst at blogging. I tried to ask Max to help me out, but all he does it look at jerky treats online.

So far this year has been a whirlwind of things.  Mostly good, some sad, and a lot in between.

Two weeks ago we had to say good-bye to one of our kitty friends - Lil'Joe. We adopted him 6 years ago, and he was little old man then. We know we gave him a good senior retirement home, but his passing was still sad.

RIP Lil' Joe

In happy pet news, we have been able to foster 2 dogs through area rescue Hopes Haven, and both have been adopted!

In other news, Consign Couture turned one last Thursday. Happy Birthday!

Left to right - me, Tamara of Consign Couture and Nicole of Shop Adorn.

Speaking of Shop Adorn, they are back in business! Official party is this Friday night!

And yes - that is a PDX Neat Sheet link I posted. There seems to be new activity on the page. Comment and like them in Facebook to show your support!

This Saturday is my teaching debut for the American Sewing Guild - Columbia River Chapter. I'm pleased to say my class is full! I'm a tad on the nervous side, but I know it will be fun! Or I'll scare all the students with how excited I am about sewing knits! Here's the link to the listing and my mug on their page.

I've also been working on fundraising for the animal shelter in my hometown. Newberg Animal Shelter. I volunteer with the group Newberg Animal Shelter Friends an all volunteer 501(c)3 dedicated to building a new shelter. Construction has begun on the new shelter, but there are not enough funds as of to date to finish building the kennels to move the animals. This Friday and Saturday is one of the largest fundraisers - The Mega Yard Sale. I just dropped off an entire car load of goodies this morning. Please go if you are in the area. I can guarantee there are a few ceramic friends stowed away long with a giant velvet painting. I've got another event or two up my sleeve for the rest of the year. One inovlves wine, and the other something along the lines of this:

Weeeeeeeeeee construction happening!!!

Phew. I'm going to keep updating this blog as much as I can. Not all pretty dresses, all the time. (well wait in my brains yes!), but I like to share things that are going on with my life.
