dork-o-rama

We were having a little too much fun at Sarah Giffrow Creative last week. It was product shot time, and Cheryl and I were running a muck before and during the shoot.

First off we got waaaaaaaaaay too excited about the new window space and were trying out our mannequin poses. (ya know, in cause either of us ever have to quit our day jobs)

I thought I had a straight face until I saw this big. What you are missing is Rita popping out the door to the left.

Then we came to the realization that I am super short, and Cheryl is super tall. So we did this quick pose Twins style. (I'm Danny Devito)

You know you have some REALLY good pals if they will do an outdoor photo shoot with you in December in Oregon at night, and in spring dresses.

I just got the teaser from Sarah Giffrow. I may pee my pants when I see the rest of them.

My what a busy month......

Halloween was awesome! I'm still trying to find some photos from the costume party at the Fez, but so far this is my favorite candid one at my friend Terra's Halloween party.
Yes I'm a pin cushion. And yes, Honey Boo Boo is next to me.

I love this time of year, but there has been SO much going on.

Here is a write up of Fashion Speaks. I didn't sound like a crackhead. Bonus.

I'm showing two looks and Max, the cutest dog in the world, is making his runway debut at the ripe old age of 15! I am dressing two humans and 2 dogs. Both boys, so of course they will be wearing dog tuxedos.

 All November
Also check out my pal Sarah Giffrows photo-making month. See it happen here:

She already snapped one up of my car:

Inspired by National Novel Writing Month which oddly enough ended up in my always accurate horoscope by Free Will Astrology by Rob Brezney:

Every November, thousands of writers participate in National Novel Writing Month. They pledge to compose at least 50,000 words of a new novel in that 30-day period. In accordance with the astrological omens, Aquarius, I propose that you commit yourself to a comparable project in your own field. Is there a potential masterpiece on which you could get a substantial amount of work done? Is there a major transformation you've long wanted to undertake but have always had some excuse to avoid? I predict that you will attract unexpected help and luck if you summon the willpower to focus on that task.

On that note, back to my world domination plans. Because they're on.

SP/SM '13 Teaser

We shot stock photos for the lookbook, and are going to do another fun webshoot with other local Portland ladies. Or entrepreneursesses as Sarah Giffrow likes to call them.

I can't resist showing just one image, and I am WAAAAY too excited about Spring dresses.

lookbook photoshooting

Damn it, Sarah Giffrow gave me too many good pictures again. (below are my crappy cell camera photos)

Her, Cheryl, and I shot all the images for the SP/SM'13 lookbook this week in her studio. I'm kind of in love with the pink background.

And no day would be complete without hanging out with Max in the hammock. His grumpy little old man self loves to hop on in whenever I'm on it. We watched the meteor shower together last weekend.

They have a party going Saturday night. I'll be there for sure. 25% off the ENTIRE store, plus wear something you bought there and get an additional 10% off.

This summer is going to be amazing!

I know it's not even June yet, but I'm so excited about all of the fun things that are going to be happening this summer!

Well first off I'm planning the "fashion" part of my photos with Sarah Giffrow my long time photographer. We are  bringing back the Portland Entrepreneuresses series, and working on scheduling everyone. Should be fun, but it does make for an extra long day of shooting and traveling. But I am very excited to feature some more rad lady small business owners.

MEMORIAL DAY!

Aside from fostering dogs with Hopes Haven, I also volunteer with Newberg Animal Shelter Friends helping with fundraising and social media. A friend and I have been working hard on a fundraiser - Pets Uncorked, where wineries area donating 10% of their tasting room fees over the Memorial Day weekend. So if you are out and about in wine country, please stop by both Duck Pond and Terra Vina (both locations). There are also a handful of wineries putting out donation boxes to help raise additional funds. Please follow construction progress on the shetler here:

Here is the offical Pets Uncorked Page (which was made by the ever-awesome Sarah Giffrow):

JULY!

Tentative date of Friday 7/6 for the Clair Vintage Inspired  5 year anniversary party! So excited and I can hardly believe I've been doing the line for an entire 5 years. But then again I can't imagine not since I love it so much. The theme is "Pretty Dress Party", and there will be dancing. More details to come as I'm firming things up this week.

A very big 5th HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my #1 dress emporium Union Rose. This should also be a fantastic party, and I believe a little bird told me that things will be going on both 7/21 and 7/22. More details soon.

Alley 33 Fashion Show! I am so excited for this, and to see the work of so many other local Portland designers. The gals that put this on did an amazing job last year, that I was like dancing in my seat when I got an e-mail about it again this spring. Also, Elizabeth Mollo will be back stage, and I want to do any show she's working on.

AUGUST!

Pink Carpet Project a benefit for Planned Parenthood on 8/2. I'm pleased to be a part of this. As you may know breast cancer runs heavily in my family. It took my Grandmothers life when I was very young, and my Aunt is a strong 2x survivor. I was appalled when Komen pulled funding to Planned Parenthood. (I may or may not have written several nasty letters and helped bomb the Komen facebook page). This show will be a great way to raise some money for women in need. Needless to say to also see some other lovely designers.

Other than that there is one other plan.

SWIMMING. Which already happened on the one rare 90 degree day we had in May. It was freezing, so the water can't do anything but get warmer. Right? That's myself (left) and Rita of Hubris Apparel (right) BRRR!

Spring/Summer 2012

It's been much too long since I last posted on here. It's because I've been so busy with making Spring and Summer dresses, along with sampling out all my Fall and Winter dresses.  I have my very first trade show coming up, and I'm nervous. Fingers crossed some new stores like my dresses.
Anyway, here are the images from my last shoot. I wanted to pick a fun location, and also share a great community resource - The Community Warehouse. They are a non-profit in Portland that collects furniture and household items and distributes them to people in need. Those people include women escaping domestic violence, the elderly, people with mental and physical disabilities, refugee families, youth and adults recovering from substance abuse, and the working poor. They get their donations from people like you and me, and area businesses. I think what they do is pretty amazing. I first came into contact with The Community Warehouse when they were in their last location, a few blocks from my studio space. Along with being a wonderful resource to the community, they also raise funds from their Estate Store. Being an avid thrift store addict, the proximity to my studio was not always a good thing for my wallet. If you are in the Portland area, please consider donating to this organization or stopping by the Estate Store. It's one of my favorite places to shop, and I know it's helping out my community.
